Pictures [Jun. 28th, 2005|06:56 pm]
A new school year means new picture site: http://community.webshots.com/user/brittspics4

Seeing my friends the last three weekends has been everything I could have hoped for and more. (cheesy, I know, but it's true) Sure, there is some drama, but these are girls of substance and intelligence with whom I can sit down and have real conversations. I can freely discuss the things that weigh on my mind and listen while they talk about what is going on in their lives.

Like Sarah said in her comment - "Remember how we were counting back in January, too? 'Wow, we've been in Lancaster for two whole weeks!' " - we started a countdown to home pretty quickly. It wasn't that I didn't have any fun or didn't meet great people... it's just that my relationships there were... i don't know... different. Other than Sarah (whom I felt like I could talk to about everything and who I wish could be a part of my Case life... even though we were extremely different and didn't agree on lots of things... at least we went beyond the surface), my friendships with Hannah and Kate were much more superficial. (I think Sarah used that word in her post... it's so appropriate)

So different from my girls from home, where over the last 3 to 8 years, our friendships have become anything but superficial. Judging by the last few weeks, that is one fact that I couldn't be more happy about.

As a sidenote: I know I've been gushing (sickeningly so) about my friends, but I must admit that there is one part of our reunion that I hate: how cute they are. Why must they all be tan with perfect hair and smiles in all of the pictures? I kind of miss the random English girls who would be in the background of my pictures with mullets, skunk dye jobs and flab hanging over their skirts.

im retarded [Jun. 28th, 2005|06:16 pm]
So, I managed to somehow delete the whole update section of my update post. I'm stupid. Unfortunately, I am also lazy. So all those who would love to know the super exciting things I was up to my first two weeks home will just have to do so the old fashioned way: talk to me :)

Past few days were pretty fun though... highlights include:

Tuesday, June 21st: Coffee, Batman Begins & Rock Bottom with the boy down at the Waterfront in Pittsburgh. Coffee was delicious, Batman was INCREDIBLE and Rock Bottom was cool. I highly, highly recommend that everyone see Batman at least once and, if in the Waterfront or in Cleveland stop by Rock Bottom. While the food was pretty solid, what made the experience was their beer sampler. Large shots of the 6 original brews on tap are offered for free! I liked the dark brew that had a hint of banana and the ale with a hint of coffee. Given my low tolerance, nearly got buzzed off of the samples!

Friday, June 24th: Dependable Drive-In with the family. Saw Bewitched (had it's funny moments, but weak story line... ended up watching the stars and laughing at the flatulent middle school boys sitting next to me rather than the movie) and Mr. and Mrs. Smith (LOVE that movie. Funny and action-filled. Lots of little hidden jokes like when Brad Pitt interogates a character who is wearing a t-shirt that says "Fight Club."). Overall, a great night.

Saturday, June 25th: Went to Cleveland (for the 3rd weekend in a row!!) to celebrate Meg & Shelby's 21st birthdays. Carrie's high school friend Steve was in town for another birthday celebration, which made for an amusing lunch at the Lizard as well as fun times later at Fusion. Turns out Coventry now has a Panini's (which should make for some dangerous late night snacks come September) so we checked that out for dinner once Shelby and her boy came up.
Night started off in style with a box of wine and cake at Overlook. **How I had missed pregaming with the girls** Later, we made it downtown where we started the night off at Mercury Lounge (got free stuff from the Smirnoff people) then bar hopped along West 6th. At some point we ran into Janey and Katie Ko.!! That was one of the coolest parts of the night... I had missed my accounting gurus so much. I'm not sure how, but Carrie, Amanda and I ended up separating from the rest of the girls after stopping in the Blind Pig (I think because the place was ridiculously overcrowded). However, we ended the night at Fusion where I was treated to a lovely Cancun repeat from A & C (that sounds worse than it was... they just danced all cute) and was able to hang out with Steve & Friends. All in all, an amazing night as always with the girls!

Sunday-Tuesday: Went to Hershey, PA with the family! Dad had a conference so we got to stay in the super swanky Hershey Hotel and then go to the park Sunday night and Monday. I felt like I had died and gone to heaven. Cushy pillows adorned by a Hershey kiss accompanied by fun times in an amusement park where when the wind blew just right you could smell chocolate in the air made for a stellar mini-vacation.

i want to be sarah's friend [May. 20th, 2005|05:02 pm]
[mood |accomplishedaccomplished]
[music |Stroke 9, Little Black Backpack]

sarah is uber cool and i'm assuming that most of the internet community knows this. thus, to keep from being bombarded by legions of fans, she makes her journal entries private or lets only certain friends see what she's thinking. once this seminal abroad experience concludes, i will no longer be able to just yell when i want to get her attention or sit and wait for her to come and sit on my bed in her pink bathroom. i will not be able to get the latest news on tim or dreams of flying. this is beyond disheartening news as i have no other friends like that, but i choose not to think about that at the moment. we still have a whole week of travelling ahead of us!

as always, i have digressed. point is, i'm starting this livejournal because this way i can see what sarah is up to once i am gone.

also, i will be able to use it when i am back home and schmuckaface will be able to have a glimpse into my infinitely interesting life. i'd continue to use blogger, but i like livejournal's privacy options and "current music/mood" feature. also, it'd be a little weird to continue a blog under the moniker "Britt in Britain" once I am Britt in Cleveland.

:)
